Titanvolt is focused on eliminating the battery compromise across the energy landscape. Through a strategic partnership with Argyll Energy Developments (AED), Titanvolt LTO (Lithium Titanate) is being deployed as the mission-critical backbone for next-generation AI data infrastructure, starting with a MW-scale pilot project.
The explosive growth of AI has created an unprecedented demand for high-density, high-uptime power. For developers like AED, who recently secured upwards of £150m in funding for their initial UK developments, traditional Lithium-Ion chemistries present a significant hurdle: the risk of thermal runaway and the inability to handle the rapid-fire grid balancing required by modern AI workloads.
Titanvolt is addressing this by shifting the focus from simple energy storage (kWh) to high-performance power delivery (kVA). This blueprint will scale from an initial MW-scale pilot to the Killenan AI Data and Infrastructure Project—a landmark development with a projected capacity of 2GW.
To meet this 2GW ambition, the infrastructure must be as efficient as it is powerful.
Uncompromising Safety: Titanvolt LTO is incapable of thermal runaway, providing a non-negotiable safety margin for high-density AI deployments. By eliminating the need for complex fire mitigation, we streamline infrastructure while securing a sovereign UK supply chain.
High-Intensity Performance: AI workloads demand instantaneous response. LTO’s high C-rates ensure rapid grid balancing and peak shaving, allowing data centres to integrate volatile renewable energy sources and participate in frequency regulation markets without sacrificing stability.
Redefining ROI: We are shifting the focus to Total Cost of Ownership (£/kVA). With 10,000+ cycles and minimal maintenance, Titanvolt LTO delivers a net-positive ROI within five years, matching the multi-decade lifecycle of the data centre itself.
The Pilot Phase: A MW-scale mini AI data centre powered by renewables and integrated with a Titanvolt LTO battery system to prove the technical and operational blueprint.
The Killenan Project: Success at the pilot site will serve as the technical foundation for a projected 2GW capacity project, utilising Titanvolt and SambaNova as primary technology partners.
“Efficiency in data infrastructure is measured by uptime and response, not just capacity. By combining SambaNova’s high-efficiency processing with a battery system that is chemically incapable of thermal runaway, we are ensuring the transition to green data centres actually improves the bottom line. We aren’t just matching legacy systems; we are exceeding them by building a more resilient, safe, and continuous operational loop.” — Dan Goodman, COO/CSO, Titanvolt
Titanvolt is providing the technical justification for a new era of data centre design. By delivering safe, durable, and sustainable power through LTO chemistry, the company is ensuring that the UK’s AI ambitions are built on a foundation of sovereign, high-intensity energy storage.
